Tulista is a small genus that is endemic to the Western Cape province of South Africa. Based on phylogenetic findings, the “old” genus Tulista (described in 1804), was re-erected by Gordon Rowley to accommodate the species formerly known in the subgenus Robustipedunculatae of Haworthia. Even though only a handful of species are recognised, there is a lot of variety known in the species, regarding their size, shape, colouration, leaf texture and tuberculation.
