Bromeliads form part of the Bromeliaceae family, a large group of monocot flowering plants with about 75 genera and more than 3000 known species. The members of the family is mainly found in the tropical Americas with one species found in tropical west Africa. The Pineapple is a very well-known member of the family, so are the unique Airplants (Tillandsia species).
